Booking

  • Yes, of course! When booking your appointment, you can request a specific dentist, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preference. If your chosen dentist isn’t available at your preferred time, we’ll offer the next closest option or help you find a suitable alternative.

  • Yes, you can! When booking your appointment, you’ll have the option to choose between our Devon Park or Liosban clinics. If you need to switch location after booking, just give us a call or email, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, just give us a call or email the clinic directly. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours notice to avoid a late cancellation fee and to allow us to offer the slot to another patient. If you booked online, you may also be able to manage your appointment through our booking portal.

  • Our cancellation fee is €50 for appointments that are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice or for missed appointments. This helps us cover the time set aside for your visit and ensures we can continue to offer timely care to all our patients.

  • Booking a follow-up appointment is easy! You can schedule it directly with our team before you leave the clinic, or you can call, email, or use our online booking system at your convenience. If you’re unsure of the timing, feel free to get in touch and we’ll advise you based on your treatment plan.

  • Absolutely! You can make an appointment by calling either of our clinics or by sending us an email. Our friendly reception team will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm your booking and answer any questions you may have.

New Patients

  • As a new patient at JME Dental, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and guided through your first visit. Your appointment will include a thorough dental exam, a chat about your oral health history, and time to discuss any concerns or goals you may have. If needed, we’ll take X-rays and recommend a treatment plan tailored just for you. It’s all about making you feel informed, comfortable, and confident in your care.

  • We generally recommend visiting the dentist every 6 to 12 months, depending on your individual needs. Regular check-ups help catch any issues early, keep your teeth and gums healthy, and give you peace of mind. If you have specific concerns or ongoing treatment, we may suggest more frequent visits.

  • For your first appointment, it’s helpful to bring:
    - A valid photo ID
    - Your PPS number (if you’d like us to check your PRSI benefits)
    - Any relevant medical or dental history
    - A list of medications you’re currently taking

    If you have dental insurance, bringing your policy details can also speed things along. And of course, any questions or concerns we’re here to help!

General Questions

  • Yes, we do. We provide discreet options like Invisalign clear aligners, ideal for adults and teens looking to straighten their smile without traditional braces.

  • Absolutely. Our team is experienced in gentle, stress-free dentistry and will take the time to make sure you feel calm and comfortable throughout your visit.

  • Appointment times can vary depending on the treatment. A routine check-up usually takes around 20–30 minutes, while more involved procedures may take longer. We’ll let you know in advance what to expect.

  • For most appointments, just brush your teeth beforehand and arrive a few minutes early. If you're having a specific treatment, our team will give you any instructions you need ahead of time.

  • Yes, we offer a range of cosmetic options including teeth whitening, veneers, composite bonding, and facial aesthetic treatments like anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

  • Yes – when carried out under the supervision of a dentist, professional teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile. We’ll guide you on the best option for your teeth.

  • Yes, we’re happy to offer a second opinion on any dental treatment. Bring along any X-rays or reports you may have, and we’ll talk through your options with you.

  • It depends on the procedure - for example, fillings and check-ups usually don’t require any downtime, but extractions or certain cosmetic treatments might need a little rest or care. We’ll always give you clear aftercare instructions before you leave.

  • We recommend brushing twice a day with an approved electric toothbrush, flossing or using interdental brushes, and keeping up with regular dental visits. A healthy diet and avoiding smoking also play a big part in maintaining great oral health.

  • Yes! Many dental issues are painless in the early stages, so regular check-ups help catch problems before they become more serious (or more costly). Prevention is always better than cure.

Emergencies

  • A dental emergency can include severe tooth pain, swelling, trauma, bleeding, or a broken tooth or lost filling. If you’re unsure, give us a call. We’ll advise you on whether you need urgent care and how soon you should be seen.

  • If it’s a permanent tooth, try to gently place it back in the socket (without touching the root), or store it in milk and contact us immediately. The sooner we see you, the better the chance of saving the tooth.

  • We keep space in our schedule each day for dental emergencies. If you’re in pain or need urgent care, call us as early as possible and we’ll do our best to see you the same day.

  • If you’re experiencing a dental emergency when we’re closed, you can text or leave a voicemail on our out-of-hours emergency number. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible with advice or a next available appointment.

Children’s Dentistry

  • Yes, at the moment, we offer children’s appointments to the families of our existing patients. If you're already registered with us, your child is very welcome too. Just let us know when booking and we’ll arrange everything for you.

  • We recommend bringing your child for their first check-up by their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth appearing. Early visits help them feel comfortable at the dentist and allow us to monitor their developing smile.

  • Children should have a check-up every 6 to 12 months, depending on their needs. Regular visits help prevent problems and get them into great oral health habits from the start.

  • Yes, absolutely. We take a gentle, friendly approach and always work at your child’s pace. Our team is experienced in helping children feel relaxed and confident during their visits.

  • Talk positively about the dentist, avoid using words like "pain" or "hurt", and bring along a favourite toy or book for comfort. You can even play “pretend dentist” at home to help them feel ready.

  • If you’re a JME patient and qualify for PRSI dental benefits, your child may be eligible for a reduced-cost or free check-up, depending on your plan. Our team can check this for you in advance.

Aesthetic Treatments

  • Invisalign works well for many people, especially those with mild to moderate crowding or spacing. At your consultation, we’ll assess your smile and let you know if it’s the right option for you.

  • Our at-home whitening kits usually take 7 to 10 days before you start to see a difference. Depending on your desired results this can take longer. We'll guide you through the process to make sure it's safe, effective, and tailored to your teeth.

  • Not at all. When supervised by a dentist, professional whitening is a safe and gentle treatment. We use trusted systems that brighten your smile without affecting your enamel.

  • Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified protein to relax targeted facial muscles, helping to soften fine lines and prevent deeper wrinkles from forming. Results typically appear within a few days and last around three to four months.

  • Yes, when administered by a trained professional, dermal fillers are a safe, non-surgical way to restore volume and smooth lines. We only use high-quality, regulated products, and you’ll always have a consultation beforehand.

  • Results vary depending on the treatment and individual. Anti-wrinkle injections typically last 3–4 months, while dermal fillers can last 6–12 months. We’ll give you a personalised plan so you know what to expect.

Payment Options

  • Our treatment costs vary depending on the service you need, from routine check-ups to more advanced procedures. You can view a full list of fees on our Fees & Pricing page, or feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to guide you. We also offer PRSI-subsidised treatments, tax relief on eligible services, and support with insurance claims.

  • We work with a wide range of insurance providers, including VHI Dental, Laya Healthcare, Irish Life Dental, Zimmer Biomet, DeCare Dental, Garda Medical Aid, and ESB Medical Benefits. Some offer direct settlement, while others require you to pay upfront and claim back. If you're unsure about your cover, our reception team will be happy to help you check your entitlements before treatment.

  • While we don’t currently offer in-house payment plans, we’ll always do our best to work with you. For certain treatments, we may be able to arrange phased payments or suggest options to help you manage the cost more comfortably. Just speak to our team in advance.

  • Yes! We accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as contactless payments. You can also pay by bank transfer if arranged in advance with reception. Let us know what works best for you.
